Why water?

Water is life. Clean drinking water improves and protects health, gives children the opportunity to go to school permanently, empowered women, strengthens the local economy and enables a better future. Nevertheless, many people worldwide have no secured access to this precious good.

Water: 2.2 billion people worldwide have no secured access to clean drinking water. Of that, about 579 million people lack access to any drinking water infrastructure.

Sanitation: 4.2 billion people worldwide have no secured access to sanitary care. Around 2 billion people do not even have access to a sanitary base supply.

HYGIENE: 3 billion people worldwide have no secured access to hygiene facilities.

Access to clean drinking water changes everything:

# 1 Health:

Diseases caused by contaminated water are responsible for more deaths than all forms of violence, including wars.

A water access must be secured, the removed water will be clean and remain. This is made possible in holistic projects, above all, through measures for sanitary care and hygiene.

# 2 time:

Alone on the African continent, women need 40 million hours a year to get water.

Without water connection in your own house, water garage is time consuming. In particular, women win through a well close time, which can be used for self-determined tasks.

# 3 Education:

Access to clean drinking water helps children to keep in school longer, especially girls.

Missing water access is a reason to stay away from the school. In particular, girls benefit from holistic projects, which in addition to water also think sanitary and hygiene components (wash). Otherwise, the first menstruation is a widespread reason not to visit the school.

# 4 Female empowerment:

Access to clean drinking water allows women and girls more freedoms. Recovered time can be used purposefully: You can go to school, start your own companies and have more influence on your own future.

What makes Viva Con Agua

VIVA CON AGUA supports water projects with the vision "water for all - all for water!". Water is besides the air to breathe the basis of all life and a central human right. Viva Con Agua is pursuing the vision that all people get access to clean drinking water, hygiene facilities and sanitary basic supply. 2.2 billion people worldwide have no secured access to clean drinking water. Of these, about 785 million people lack the basic supply of drinking water.

We are convinced that Viva Con Agua's vision is not utopia and is still in reality within our generation. This destination drives Viva Con Agua and is the basis of your action!
